Battle of Gallipoli

Casualties
Military Technology

The Allied Forces would attempt to capture the Turkish Dardanelles Straits which would give them the opportunity to control more territory and have easier access to Russia. The Straits linked the Mediterranean Sea with the Sea of Marmora, it also gave access to the Turkish capital, Constantinople, and provided a route to the Black sea. Access to the Sea of Marmora would give Britain and France a more direct route to their ally, Russia. By taking over the strait, invading Contantinople and threatening it's citizens with weaponry, the Allies were hoping the people would go into a state of panic and surrender, thus eliminating the Ottoman Empire (today Turkey) from the list of enemies. If this succeeded their next move would be to try persuade the Balkan states to also join the Allied forces since it would not be favorable for them to be surrounded by Allies, yet be fighting for the Central Powers.
